PATROL courses offered at UTM



The University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies will offer the PATROL – Prepare and Training Rural Officers of Law program, free Peace Officer Standards and Training-approved training courses for officers in rural West Tennessee. Each course will be offered twice through June 30, 2012. The purpose of PATROL is to “develop professionalism in the criminal justice system through enhanced education of the law enforcement officers” in rural West Tennessee. Anyone who would like to attend one of the seminars or is interested in a department hosting one of the seminars should contact Dennis Joyner, IPD Law Enforcement training specialist, at (901) 831-0036. TSG is a group of retired law enforcement officers serving as trainers and consultants, who are recognized as experts in multiple police disciplines including police procedure, criminal procedure, drug investigations and police liability. The group began in 1993 and has worked extensively with rural law enforcement agencies. TSG lead instructors are Jimmie V. Leach and Dennis Mays. Project director is Debbie Mount, UT Martin non-degree programs director. Co-project director is Joyner, retired police chief.
