One goal is enough for Westview soccer One goal was enough to get Westview even. The Lady Chargers’ soccer team won its first game of the season last week, defeating South Gibson 1-0 in Medina. Kayla Guthrie scored the goal in the first half, and Makenzie Vincent had 7 saves. The Lady Chargers’ record is now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. Westview lost to Jackson Christian School 2-0 on Monday. Westview is back in action 6 p.m. today at home against Gibson County. Lady Yellowjackets top South Fulton Greenfield was eight strokes better than South Fulton in their two-way girls’ golf match Thursday at Fulton Country Club. Haley Rawls was the medalist for the Lady Yellowjackets with a 38. Ashley Tucker had a 50 for Greenfield. In boys’ play, Tony Robinson had a team-best score of 40 as the ’Jackets were defeated 167-220 by the Red Devils. Chris Reddick shot 57, Mason Hilliard a 61 and Blake Caleb a 62 for Greenfield. Golf tourney helps G’field girls hoops Donna Sims and Haley Rawls teamed up to win the ladies’ division of the Greenfield High School basketball golf tournament Saturday at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon. There was a two-team tie for the men’s division title as Willie Trevathan and Jeff Chandler were even with Jeff Wright and Butch Parkins. Proceeds will go to the Lady Yellowjackets’ basketball team.
