Skyhawk linebacker named honorable mention All-American
Yarbrough, a senior business major from Oakdale, Calif., played and started in 11 games and led the Skyhawks with 91 total tackles (36 solo and 55 assisted tackles). He had 5.5 tackles for a loss and seven quarterback hurries. He recorded double-digit tackles in three games this past season. He had 11 tackles at Central Arkansas, 13 at Austin Peay and 15 at Eastern Illinois.
In December, Yarbrough was one of 51 players selected to the 10th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team. The team was announced at the FCS football championship in Chattanooga.
Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision institutions are eligible for the academic awards. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. The player must have reached his second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. He must also have participated in 50 percent of the games played at his designated position.
Yarbrough was also named to the 2007 All-Ohio Valley Conference first team defense.
The Skyhawks finished their 2007 season with a 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference record.
