Lady Rebel team 1st,
Tornado runner 2nd

The Obion Central girls finished first in the team standings, and Union City’s Daniel Williamson placed second out of 110 runners on the boys’ side, in Tuesday’s prep cross country meet hosted by Trenton Peabody.
Medaling for the Lady Rebels were Rachel Jones (3rd place), Nichole Whitson (4th), Peyton Daniel (5th), Brittney Dodd (10th), Whittney Dodd (12th), Kris Storey (13th) and Tia Parks (14th).
Williamson ran the 5K course in 18 minutes, 19 seconds, finishing a mere five seconds behind Ben Moroney of Trinity Christian.
Jackson Smith finished 14th overall to medal for the Rebel boys’ squad, which ranked among the top 10 in the team standings.
Jacklyn Street of Bradford topped the girls’ field of 82 runners with a time of 23:28.
The Rebel teams and Golden Tornado junior — the only member of the UCHS cross country squad — will next be in action Tuesday at Crockett County.

Lewis hits, pitches
LR past Hillcrest

Robin Lewis knocked in three runs to lead Lake Road to a 5-3 middle school softball victory over Hillcrest Tuesday.
Erika Willett had a key hit to open the sixth for the victors and Abby Shelton also had a RBI.
Winning pitcher Robin Lewis fanned six batters, three of those in a critical situation late in the contest.
Lewis was supported by good defense from Morgan Bennett, Jenna Smith and Kim Lynch.
Lake Road improved to 3-2 with the win.
On the Hillcrest side, Haily Johnston had two hits and two RBIs, while Jordan Albright was responsible for a pair of safeties and drove home the Cougars’ other tally. Courtney Heuck doubled.
McClain Bell was the losing pitcher.
Hillcrest is now 3-3.

Central soccer team
falls to Dyersburg

Dyersburg handed Obion Central a 7-3 loss in District 13AA prep soccer play Tuesday.
Brooke Jennings was responsible for two of the Lady Rebels’ three goals, with Kelsey Jackson scoring the other.
Taylor Baker recorded seven saves in goal for OC.
Obion Central, now 1-2-1, hosts Dyer County Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
 
SF blanks R’mont
in jayvee softball

South Fulton is now 5-0 after beating Ridgemont 11-4 in middle school softball Tuesday.
Devilette skipper Curt Lee did not report the statistics from his club’s triumph by press time.
For Ridgemont, Sheri-dan Bugg and Macy Muirhead both doubled and singled.
Ariel Wright was the winning pitcher, while Bugg was saddled with the setback.
Ridemont hosts Union City on Thursday.

Devilettes, Dyer Co.
finish with 1-all tie

South Fulton and Dyer County battled to a 1-all tie in girls’ high school soccer on Tuesday.
Desiray Sturgeon scored the Devilettes’ lone goal in the second half.
SF will take a 1-3-1 record into Thursday’s game vs. Trenton.
