Special ed seminar slated at UT Martin

The University of Tennessee at Martin College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences will offer the Bettie Graham Special Education Seminar from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sept. 10 in Room 232-233 of Gooch Hall. This seminar was rescheduled from a previous date in June and will feature Catherine Barnes. Barnes is the director of Silver Circles, Inc. providing services and programs for students who require academic intervention. Her programs include the Irlen Method for Scotopic Sensitivity Irlen Syndrome, interactive metronome therapy, listening therapy, psychological and educational evaluation and sensory profiles. The 9 a.m.-noon session will cover symptoms of Scotopic Sensitivity Irlen Syndrome and how these symptoms affect children. The afternoon session, from 1-4 p.m., will cover strategies for working with children diagnosed with Scotopic Sensitivity Irlen Syndrome.
