Self-defense course set at UTM



A self-defense program for women only will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Sept. 12-13, at the University of Tennessee at Martin. The program will be held in Boling University Center, Room 206.
Patrolman Terry Guthrie of the UT Martin Department of Public Safety will teach the program, which is free and open to UT Martin female students and women in the community.
Guthrie is a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) certified instructor for the Basic Physical Defense Program. He teaches risk awareness, risk reductions, risk recognitions and risk avoidance. The program is hands-on and includes learning and practicing physical defense moves.
