Guthrie’s four goals
lead Lady Chargers

Kayla Guthrie notched a hat trick plus one as Westview defeated McKenzie 9-0 in high school soccer action Tuesday night.
Guthrie had four goals, while Amberly Baker had two and Emily Plunk, Shelby Donavant and Makenzie Vincent had one each for the Lady Chargers.
Makenzie Vincent also had two saves in the shutout.
Westview improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in district play.
The Lady Chargers are back in action this weekend at Kate Campbell Park in Jackson at the Liberty Shootout. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday and 10:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Greenfield-Halls
to play a day early

Greenfield’s high school football game against Halls has been moved up a day to Thursday, Oct. 13.
The game had originally been slated for the following night.

UTM season tickets
for football on sale

Football season tickets for the University of Tennessee at Martin Skyhawks are currently on sale.
To purchase season tickets in time for tonight’s home opener against Union College, call Jenny Canary at the Skyhawk Ticket Office at (731) 881-7207.
The Skyhawks will host five home games at Hardy M. Graham Stadium. In addition to tonight’s opening game, with kickoff slated for 6 p.m., the Skyhawks will host Murray State on Sept. 22 with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
The Skyhawks will host Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee Tech Oct. 1. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Homecoming is set for Oct. 8 when the Skyhawks host in-state rival Austin Peay. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. The Skyhawks will wrap up the home portion of their schedule on Oct. 29 when they host Southeast Missouri State. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
Season ticket prices start as low as $45 for general admission. Bench back seats are $70 each and chair seats are $83.
Individual game tickets are $18 for chair seats and $16 for bench back seats. General admission tickets are $10 each while student general admission tickets are $5 each.
A special business and industry package returns this season. Local businesses can purchase five benchback seats for $100.
 
’14 Women’s Final 4
picks honorary chairs

Representatives of the Nashville Local Organizing Committee  for the 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four have announced that the First Lady of Nashville, Anne Davis, along with the First Lady of the State of Tennessee, Crissy Haslam, will serve as Honorary Chairs for the NCAA Women’s Final Four.
The NCAA Women’s Final Four will be a week-long series of special events culminating with the tournament at Bridgestone Arena in April 2014.
“Hosting the 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four is a wonderful opportunity for our city to showcase our new Music City Center, our downtown and celebrate the incredible student-athletes who have reached the pinnacle in their sport,” Davis said. Published in The WCP 9.15.11
