Fourth-quarter rally falls short for UTM UT Martin scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter but came up short as South Alabama posted a 33-30 non-conference football victory over the Skyhawks Saturday afternoon at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Junior transfer Quentin Sims caught three touchdown passes and had a career-best six receptions for 78 yards, while senior wide receiver Stephen Shiver had seven catches for 96 yards. The Skyhawks opened the fourth-quarter barrage with a 38-yard field goal by junior Cody Sandlin and later reached the end zone on a Carr two-yard pass to Sims and a short score by McNeil to pull within 33-30. The Skyhawks tried the onside kick, but South Alabama came up with the ball and preserved their homecoming win. Brockman leads MSU to homecoming win MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Casey Brockman threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Hannibal Beauford and Kevin Robinson forced a fumble to preserve Murray State’s 36-27 come-from-behind win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday. With the Racers (4-3, 2-2 OVC) trailing 27-24, Brockman orchestrated a six-play, 75-yard drive capped by his toss to Beauford with 1:28 left. On the Panthers’ ensuing drive Robinson forced a fumble from Jimmy Garoppolo at the Eastern Illinois 20. Mike Harris added a 24-yard TD run with 1 second left.
