Top hoops recruit
officially a Wildcat
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky has announced the Wildcats have received Nerlens Noel’s letter of intent, adding the highly touted 6-10 center as the centerpiece of an expected fourth straight No. 1 recruiting class under coach John Calipari.
Noel averaged 12.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game as a senior for the Tilton School.
in New Hampshire. Noel is rated the top high school player in the class by two major scouting services.
Noel joins Archie Goodwin, Alex Poythress and Willie Cauley as part of Kentucky’s new class. The signing period ends May 16.
Calipari says Nerlens is an unfinished product like freshman Anthony Davis. Davis led Kentucky to a national title and picked up every major player of the year award before declaring for the draft on Tuesday.
