Martin youth football schedules sign-ups Martin Youth Tackle Football registration for grades 3-6 is taking place. Sign-up fee is $60. The first day for registration will be 8-11 a.m. Friday at the Martin elementary and middle schools. The second sign-up will be 8 a.m. Aug. 11 at Century 21’s storage facility across from Weakley County Motors. For more information, call Cary Villasica at (417) 860-5740. Skyhawk golfer wins at Clarksville Graham Sleigh is tuning up for his senior golf season at UT Martin in his own ‘back yard.’ Sleigh fired a three-under par 68 recently at Swan Lake Golf course to defend his Clarksville City Amateur title, winning by two shots over first-round leader Greg Guinn. Sleigh, who calls Clarksville home, shot under par rounds for all three days in the City Amateur (68-68-69—205). The second round of the Clarksville City Amateur Golf Championship was played at Cole Park Golf Course, while the first round of the tournament was played at Clarksville Country Club. Tyler Guy, who will be Sleigh’s teammate in the fall at UTM, shot a 5-under 66 in the third round, to finish third in the City Am. Duck blind draw set for Saturday The 2012 edition of Tennessee’s long-standing tradition of hand-drawn duck blind drawings will be held at the regular sites across the state on Saturday. Registration will be held 7-10 a.m. and the drawings will begin at 10 a.m. at most locations. For more information, visit the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website, www.tnwildlife.org. While hand drawings will be held for the majority of the locations, a computerized drawing system for blind sites on Bogota and Thorny Cypress Wildlife Management Areas in Dyer County and the four units on the Chickamauga WMA (Candies Creek, Johnson Bottoms, Rogers Creek, and Yellow Creek) will again be conducted for this season. The application period is Sept. 5-Oct. 10 for these areas. Annual golf outing helps fight cancer The 5th annual Scotty McCullar Memorial Golf Championship is scheduled for Aug. 17 at Wingfoot Golf Course in Union City. The event, which benefits the American Cancer Society, will have three flights for men and women. Entry fee is $300 per four-person team or $75 per person. There are also hole, tee, birdie and eagle sponsorships available. In addition, the 18th hole has been dedicated to both cancer survivors and those who lost their battle with the disease for $25 per name.
