Lions step up to No. 5

One step up.
Dresden moved up one spot in this week’s Associated Press Class 2A state football poll, checking in at No. 5.
The Lions are undefeated after three games, following last week’s 34-14 win over McKenzie, and will be on the road to Dover to face Stewart County this week.
Grace Christian remained the top-ranked team in 2A, while the next four teams moved up as a result of Friendship Christian’s 28-21 loss to Gordonsville last week.
FCA, which defeated Dresden in the 2A state title game a year ago, fell from No. 2 to No. 6.
Dresden, Grace Christian and Cascade are all 3-0, while tradition-rich Trousdale County, tied at No. 3 with Cascade, is 2-1.
The Top 10 rounds out with Mt. Pleasant at No. 7, Houston County at No. 8, Oneida at No. 9 and Adamsville ranked 10th.
HC and Oneida flip-flopped from last week’s poll.
West Tennessee teams are seen throughout the rankings, with Covington (4A) and Union City (1A) the highest ranked area  teams at No. 2 in their respective polls.
Defending state champion Henry County is fifth and Jackson North Side is eighth in 5A, while Lexington is fourth with a first-place  vote in 4A.
