LET US PRAY

Dozens of students and adults gathered around the flag poles in front of Obion County Central High School to pray early today as they closed out a student-led See You at the Pole™ program. The event began at 6:45 a.m., prior to classes, and included praise music, special music, skits, scripture reading and a brief message from Tim McClain, youth leader at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The 45-minute program, sponsored by the school’s Christian Student Association, closed with everyone gathering around the poles for prayer. The theme for today’s See You at the Pole global day of student prayer was “Awaken” and the focal scripture was Ephesians 3:14-21. The effort began in 1990 as a grassroots movement with just 10 students praying at their school in Texas and has grown to involve millions praying on their campuses the fourth Wednesday in September.
