Dresden, Sharon girls hang on for wins; Lions cruise

The Greenfield girls’ middle school basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday night to Dresden when a last-second shot by the Lady Yellowjackets fell short.
The Sharon girls narrowly escaped with a three point win at Martin on Thursday.
The Dresden boys just keep on winning after they easily handled Greenfield on Thursday.
Dresden 31, G’field 30 (G)
Greenfield’s Bentley Gordon’s baseline jumper as the buzzer sounded was slightly off target and the Lady Lions (6-1) survived a nine-point comeback from the Lady Yellowjackets (9-1).
The Lady Lions led 9-8 after the first period and built up a 19-10 lead by the end of the first half thanks to a 13-point run.
Greenfield chipped away at the lead in the third period, thanks in part to three three-pointers from Kinlee Moore. Chloe Moore’s three-pointer put Greenfield up 24-23 at the end of three.
Alex Sledd led the Lady Lions with nine points followed by Callen Killibrew and Finch with seven each.
Kyndall Wiley led all scorers for Greenfield with 11. Kinlee Moore scored nine.
Sharon 31, Martin 28 (G)
The Lady Panthers led 5-4 after the first period, but then the Lady Eagles took the lead and went into the half up by one with an 11-10 score.
Sharon increased its lead to three after three with a score of 22-19.
Lexiey Mealer was the leading scorer for Sharon with 13 points. Makelle Milligan popped in 10.
Jordyn Green led Martin with 13 points.
Dresden 63, G’field 18 (B)
Dylan Yates’ 18 points led the way for the Lions as they had little or no trouble from the Yellowjackets.
The closest the ’Jackets got to Dresden is when Jacob Lewis made it a 4-2 game in the first period.
Ten players scored for the Lions, led by Yates with 18. Dresser Winn was second in scoring with 12
