Library to remain closed 4-6 weeks The inside of C.E. Weldon Public Library remains a “royal mess,’ Library Director Roberta Peacock said Tuesday. Peacock said the library would remain closed for at least another 4-6 weeks as the cleanup continues from a pipe-burst last month. As for damage estimates, “there’s a $5,000 deductible, but the other part would be $37,592.51 from the insurance,” Peacock told Martin aldermen at their informal meeting.
Man accidentally discharges gun A Martin man was charged Tuesday with one count of reckless endangerment after police said he accidentally fired a gun inside his unit at Cambridge Studio Apartments. A bullet from William D. Gregory’s .40 caliber handgun went through two adjoining apartments where three people resided at the time of the incident, Martin police said in a press release. Gregory failed to notify police of the incident and made no attempt to check on the welfare of those in the adjoining apartment units, according to the release. Cambridge Studio Apartments are located at 529 Lee Street.
