Chemistry lecture to feature Sammons

The University of Tennessee at Martin chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society is sponsoring a lecture on green chemistry at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 317 of the Engineering and Physical Science Building on campus.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Dr. Rhea Sammons of the University of Tennessee Forest Products Center will talk about “The Application of Biomass in the Production of Carbon Fibers.”
She received her doctorate in chemical engineering from UT Knoxville. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue University. She also majored in chemistry at UT Martin.
She is the daughter of Dr. David Sammons, Department of Biological Sciences chair.
